I should really write an update

Hmmm.

I'm pretty happy at the moment, alot of things aren't going so great but as far as I'm aware the thing that matters to me most is going really well lately. I wouldn't say it's having a knock on effect on everything else but it makes the shit easier to put up with that's for sure.

I only have a few weeks left of college, this is both a good and bad thing. It's good as it means after June 25th I can do whatever. It's bad because it means I've got alot to get done before then. I'm not entirely sure what I'll do once I finish college but I have a few things in mind. Between now and then I'll be working as much as possible to raise some money.

That's all I got for now....
Twilight rules.

Hi Plymouth

So as the title of this blog would suggest, I'm currently in Plymouth. I slept for most of the journey here, not something I'm happy about. I don't like taking naps/sleeping during the day/falling asleep involuntarily... all of these things happened.

I'm stuck here until Saturday when I head back to BN1 and work (aka listen to PBC, Cartel and maybe a podcast interview or two on my ipod) until the sun comes up. Between now and then I'll be visiting family and generally be doing alot of killing time, not to mention the paid work I'm missing out on. I was planning on seeing Crocus on Friday but it would seem that's not going to happen now.

I want to set up mobile blogging but my phone is charging upstairs and I'm feeling lazy so it's not going to happen. If I do however I can grab the other can of Rochstar which is in my bag, that may not be a good idea as my eye feels very strange after drinking the last one...

Basically, I'm not over joyed about being here and can't think of anything positive to say. Bad times... roll on Sunday.

Updaaaate

Right, here it goes.

Last Sunday (April 5th) was my first show, I'm not going to go into much detail about this as it's more a sidenote than a point of discussion for this post. It all went okay, happy bands, happy people, happy venue staff. Yeeeah!

So last Monday (April 6th) I began my trip up north, I got up at stupid o'clock to catch a train to London, on which I saw Matt King (if you don't know who that is google is your friend) and from there sat on a coach for far too long to get to Manchester. The fact that I even made it to Manchester was a moment in itself, the coach driver did some very bad driving. I was going to met up with Dan before the show and wonder about, we ended up meeting waay later and headed to Weatherspoons and met Ash, Andy and Gaby for drinks. Expensive drinks. We headed over to the Musicbox before Dead Swans were due to play. It was a great set, they played a new track as well. Next was This Is Hell, I was happy to see them again, they killed it to. I had to leave pretty quickly after the show as I was going to be crashing on Kam's floor.

Dan ended up crashing as well, and we both had uncomfortable nights sleep on the small sofas. I woke up pretty early and couldn't work out how to use the shower and didn't want to wake Kam up to ask. Luckily he woke up in time for me to shower before we headed to the coach station.

The coach journey to Glasgow was uneventful. I grabbed a taxi to the train station where I was met by Alessio and we were joined by the rest of Search Party and Steph. We made our way back to the Ivory Black's and I dropped off my stuff and then Steph and I had dinner in Weatherspoons. The Glasgow show seemed busier than the Manchester one the night before. It was ace to see Search Party live again, and also watch DS and TIH. Needless to say both were great again. It sucked that there was a barrier, my ribs hurt a ton after that and still do. It's how it goes though. We met Scott at the show as well and then all headed out afterwards, I can't remember what the place was called. We had a good night though! Subways, alcohol, cheesy chips and deep fried mars bars.

Another early morning and Alessio showed me to Glasgow central station so I could catch my train to Leeds. Definately the nicest journey, trains are so much better than coach! I had to change in Carlisle in order to get to Leeds. I got to Leeds pretty early and had fuck all to do, I went into a few shops in town and then gave Ricci a call to see if he was home. It turned out he was so I went to Headingley and hung out for a bit. On my way to the taxi rank I bumped into Sushi and had a little chat and he came along as well. We spent a while trying to get Ricci to come to the show, no luck though. So we went and caught a bus to Rios.

I know alot of people don't like this venue, but I'd never been. I can now safely say I don't like it either... at least not the downstairs, I've not been to the upstairs. The downstairs I'm not a fan of though. The stage was pretty high and had a low ceiling at the front, plus a metal pillar right in the middle at the down stage edge, this meant I didn't stand at the front as I didn't want to get knocked out. Wise choice, it did mean it was frustrating watching Dead Swans from side of stage though. I left during This Is Hell's first song as I was getting more and more irritated and I'd catch them tomorrow anyway. Jamo was kind enough to show me where I needed to catch a bus from to get back to Headingley, I really need to learn my way round the centre better!

Ricci had to leave early in the morning to get to work so woke me up to say bye and tell me he would leave his keys and could I drop them into work later. This was ace as it meant I could sleep a bit more and then have a shower and eat breakfast without having to rush. I ended up way early for my next coach so I walked around for a bit and went to the market.

I got to London ten minutes before doors as they were moved back an hour. The tube ride to Camden sucked as it was rush hour and so so warm. Gold dust were one of the supports, they were goooood. As it goes without saying that Dead Swans and This Is Hell were awesome but.... they were awesome. It was definately the best show I went to out of the four. Brit, Kath, Steph, Jen and others were there and I met Billy as well. I left straight after TIH and saw some old friends at the station and we caught the train back. I got home sometime in the morning and crawled into my own bed for the first time in days. It felt good.

Thanks to;
Ben/Dead Swans for saving me a shirt, Gaby for getting me a couple of drinks and sharing her Buckfast and doing a bit of street drinking and having some great talks, Andy for not posting up the picture he has, Kam for letting me stay, Dan for the fun chats and goss hahaa, Kam again for giving me a lift to the coach station, Benny/Dead Swans for putting me on list in Glasgow, Steph for getting me a couple of drinks, Scott for the deep fried mars bar, Neil for letting me stay, Alessio for walking me to the station, Sushi for hanging out with me, Jamo for walking me to the bus stop so I could get to Headingley, Ricci for letting me stay, Brit for letting me get her drinks ;), little Ben again for making sure he didn't stage dive on me and if I forgot anyone then I'm sorry!

Fail

So I've been meaning to write up about my latest trip up north but I haven't yet. I'm not going to do it now either as I've had fuck all sleep, no food and now have a raging head ache.

Daaaamn.

FREE!

Since Sunday my life has pretty much been on hold while I concured a mountain of college work which I, true to form, left until the last point. (I know I shouldn't but I can't motivate myself to do it until the dead line's are looming, and anyway, I seem to work better under pressure... go figure). I'm now happy because I just handed in the last two pieces of work I had. And now I have a month off, sweet life. I've got a couple of things planned already.

Taking a trip upto London to see someone I haven't seen since the beginning of the year, not sure what the plan is yet but I'm sure it'll be a great day.

I'm off up north again to catch This Is Hell and Dead Swans at the Musicbox in Manchester on April 6th, then heading to Leeds the next day and seeing them again at Rio's on April 8th and finally heading down to London on April 9th to see them at Underworld. I still need to sort out all my tickets for that.... perhaps something I should be doing now instead of this? Ah well!

There's a lot of good shows coming up next month, it's going to be a good one. I'll be here to see Baroness play again (fuck yes!) and then I'm heading over to Plymouth for a couple of days to see family and the like, then back here. Cancer Bats and The Plight is on April 22nd, that will be a kick ass night, I'm really excited about it!

This weekend will be good to, I'm possibly going to see my sister later on, then possibly head over to Casablanca's to see my mates funcation band... who knows! I know I will end up at Deviant for sure, it's a given. There's also a free show at the Hobgoblin tonight which I might check out. Lots of choices. Hmmm.

For now I'm going to sit and wait for people to reply to emails so I can do my job and listen to the 'mosh' version of Gangsta's Paradise by In Fear and Faith.
Check it out

March 6-8th

Everyone seems to have had a shit week - myself included for reasons I need not go into but Friday evening, Saturday and today were most definately not shit (for the most part anyway).

Friday I headed upto London to meet Steph and James who were kind enough to put up with my company and give me a lift to Leeds for the TDON alldayer. We stopped over night at Steph's Mum's. She's a lovely woman, she gave us all easter eggs before we left.

We headed upto Leeds on Saturday and it was a great great day. I got to see people who I haven't seen for a while and hang out and have chats and meet some ace new people and have more chats. Unfortunately MTL didn't play, but the bands were ace. Especially DIO. It's a shame that plans didn't go as thought as far as post show hang outs but life has a habit of getting in the way of itself. Also disappointed not to see someone there but lets not go into that.

Sav was kind enough to put us up for the night in Hudds. Ash, Dan, Nick, Mike, Ollie, Frankie, Jenny (obvs) were all also there as well as a couple of others. After a lengthy and amusing conversation in the kitchen Steph and I decided to crash out early. We woke up pretty late considering too.

Sav gave James, Steph and I a lift back to Joe's Well where we'd left the car and we said goodbye and thanks there and went to hunt for food. We left Leeds around 3:30, the journey back to London was okay, hit traffic a few times but that's how it goes. I got back here around 10:15.

All in all, I had a wicked time even if I didn't see everyone I was hoping to and not everytihng went as I hoped it would. It was nice to see people again, meet new people, watch bands, chill out and justkick back really. Thanks to Steph for driving, her Mum for putting me up, James for the DJing (haha), Faz, Ant, Paris for looking looking after my passport, the soundguy, Josh LTA for being a star and lending his drum stands, Kam, Dom, and Sav for the shirts and letting us stay.

Fuck

I shouldn't be left alone for so long. It means I'm able to sit and dwell on negative thoughts and make them worse and worse. Listening to City and Colour, The Smiths and Jimmy Eat World doesn't help either. Eugh.

On a completely different topic - waiting for emails is a bitch.

Decisions, decisions

Over the past couple of days I've been given alot to think about and true to my nature I've been thinking about it all alot.

The more I think about moving away the more I realise how much I like living here. Yes, it's true that this is natural when thinking about such things but I know it's not just that. Overall I'm happy here. Not only that but if things work out then I will have a job which I won't want to leave when it got to the time I would be moving out of town. I don't know, it's a way off yet so I'm trying not to think about it too much, things may have changed by then.

As well as that I've been thinking about the relationship between myself and someone and how turbulent it has been over the past year. I wouldn't change any of it though. I'm totally fine with it, just finding it difficult right now. It doesn't help that other things I've been thinking about connect to this and will either way have an influence.

It'll all work out! FOr the mean time I'll just sit and over analyse.

Royal Rumble

It finally happened, after everyone being syked for it for so so long! I mean, since James told us he was planning an all dayer and that was way back in October.

All in all it was an absolutely amazing day. All the bands I watched were incredible and the general atmosphere was great. More Than Life, Dreaming In Oceans and Dead Swans killed it and got great reactions from the crowd.

It was ace to see so many friends to - Brit, Alessio, James, Steph, Faz, Ricci, Andy, Nick, Kath, Ryan and sooo many others. It was cool to meet new people as well - Gaby, Amber, the rest of Search Party!, Ives and Rossi.

So basically, if you weren't there you missed out big time. Same again next year? Yes please!

Drained

So today I started to help Sarah move out, it was not so long ago we were painting her old place and getting things sorted for the new one. We met at her new place and caught a bus further into Hove.

She remembered her keys this time! :P It was quickly realised that there was alot more to shift than we had remembered and we had a big job on our hands. I spent a fair amount of time just sitting on the floor and talking because only Sarah knew what she wanted to take, store and throw out. We ended up discussing the same topics as always; friends, guys, shows, work, family, moving and everything under the sun. We packed boxes and boxes of material for storage and Sarah shoved clothes into a few bags.

After several hours we headed to the bus stop laden down with biiiiig bags. Not fun in the freezing cold. We made it back to the flat and our hands had not fallen off. Always good.

I got home around 11 and still feel so out of it. What do I learn from this? Helping your friend move stuff is nice and helpful and I don't mind it at all. Doing it when you're tired and really ill means you will be like a zombie afterwards.

There's still more stuff to pack and move as well! Gosh.
